# Install · Not Loading
Scope
Installation issues only. For activation and licensing, see Activation & License.
# Quick reference
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Installed, but no plugin panel in Revit | The addin file isn't being read by Revit | Plugin not loading |
| Want to upgrade | — | Just run the new installer to overwrite install |
| Installer errors out / half-installed | Revit still running in the background | Before installing |
# Installation
Do this first
Close all running Revit instances (including background processes). With Revit running, the files are locked and the installation won't complete cleanly.
Before installing, confirm a supported version of Revit (2018–2026) is installed.
# Overwrite installation
If you already have an older version, just run the new installer to overwrite it.
The new version is installed into the previous version's installation directory.
# Plugin not loading
First check whether 0_Catfish.addin exists in this path:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2027
(Replace 2027 with your actual Revit version year.)
If the file is there but the plugin still doesn't load, copy it to the current user's directory:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2027
Replace the username
Administrator must be replaced with your own Windows username — don't copy it literally.
# After installing — three things to set up
- Register and activate — see Activation & License
- Add the render path to your template — otherwise families with textures from the library lose their textures. See Family Library → Missing textures
- Configure the Catfish Cloud server (only needed the first time you use Cloud) — see Catfish Cloud
