# Quick reference
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| One-click dimensioning wiped your manual dimensions | It clears previous dimensions of the same type | One-click first, then manual |
| Interior / exterior dimensions muddled | They are two separate types | Mind interior vs. exterior |
| Elevation dimensions are cluttered with tiny dims | Minimum value not ignored | Enable "ignore minimum value" |
| Offset / nudge command does nothing | Not a same-direction dimension group | Nudge prerequisite |
| Material tag shows "?" and won't refresh | — | Use the material tag refresh command |
| Ceiling material elevation text offset is wrong | Broken on 2018 / 2020 | Use another version |
| Sloped glazing panel tags are misplaced | Revit can't tag them natively | Choose relative-to-floor elevation |
| Editing one elevation changes all elevations | "Apply to all elevations" was used | Apply to the current elevation only |
| Sheet viewports are scrambled | Viewport scales weren't set first | Set scale before arranging |
| Command won't create in a 3D view | Annotations need a drawing view | Switch to the right view |
# One-click first, then manual
Getting the order wrong wastes the work
One-click dimensioning (and box-select dimensioning) clears previous dimensions of the same type on regeneration.
So: after adding manual dimensions, do not run one-click dimensioning again — it will wipe everything you added by hand.
Correct order: run one-click / box-select dimensioning → top up the few you need by hand → done. If you must redo it, redo the whole run.
# Mind interior vs. exterior
Dimensions come in two types — interior and exterior:
- Get them the right way round, because regeneration clears previous dimensions of the same type
- Mixing them up is exactly how "my added dimensions disappeared" happens
- The same distinction applies to partition dimension drawings versus finished-surface dimension drawings
# Nudge / avoid prerequisite
WARNING
The offset behaviour in "nudge up / avoid" only works when the selected dimensions form a same-direction dimension group.
Select dimensions of mixed directions and nothing happens — that's expected.
# Ceiling material elevation on 2018 / 2020
Version trap
The annotation elevation text offset issue in "ceiling material elevation" is reproducible on Revit 2018 / 2020. Use another version.
# Sloped glazing panel tags
Revit itself cannot tag glass sloped glazing panels; the plugin recognises and writes the value in.
Fix: when tagging panels in sloped glazing, choose "relative-to-floor elevation".
# Material tag won't refresh
If material tags show "?" and won't refresh, run the material tag refresh command.
# Sheet arrangement
- Viewport layout is arranged automatically based on viewport size and title block size
- ⚠️ So set the viewport scales first, then arrange — otherwise the result is a mess
# Multi-storey elevations
WARNING
When adjusting an elevation with multiple storeys, do not use "apply to all elevations" — use apply to current elevation only.
# Other notes
- Most annotation commands must be created in a drawing or plan view; they cannot be created in a 3D viewport
- "Quick fill" needs an air cavity region box-selected first as its boundary
- "Fill colour scheme" and "align headers" are display refinements, separate from the dimensioning commands
- Light control lines (fixture connection lines) and point annotation (MEP points) go together; point annotation has V1 and V2 versions — pick as needed
